Lakeville's Select Board awarded a one-year school bus contract to First Student for two agricultural high school routes. The board voted 3-0 on August 21 to approve $88,617.60 for transportation to Bristol County Agricultural School and $80,100 for Norfolk County Agricultural School for the 2026-2027 year. Management Analyst Emily Surette told the board three of four bidders were rejected for incomplete submissions, leaving First Student as the only fully qualified, lowest-cost bidder.
Member Christopher Plonka said it "baffles" him how often vendors submit incomplete paperwork despite the effort required to bid. The contract, which took effect upon signature and runs through June 30, 2027, includes options for up to two additional one-year extensions at the town's discretion.
