Lakeville Planning Board Approves ADU, Backs Wetland Bylaw Petition and Data Center Zoning

LAKEVILLE — May 28, 2026 — Lakeville Planning Board approves one ADU, continues a second, and backs a wetland bylaw citizen petition at May 28 meeting. The four-member board — noting the resignation of member John Cabral effective May 27 — unanimously approved a 784-square-foot ADU at 57 Kingman Street for applicant Ryan Bartolotta and continued a 900-square-foot ADU application at 55 Long Point Road by Derek Maxey to June 11, pending Board of Health water-test sign-off. The board voted unanimously to recommend a data center zoning bylaw for town meeting and to partner with the Southeastern Regional Planning and Economic Development District on a comprehensive ADU bylaw update, a project supported by a $48,000 SRPEDD technical assistance grant of which $42,100 has been spent. Conservation Commission Chairman Nancy Yates appeared as an individual citizen to preview a 25-foot no-touch wetland buffer bylaw she is carrying by citizen's petition to town meeting — a measure she first attempted in 2005 — noting that 192 Massachusetts municipalities have similar local bylaws while Lakeville relies solely on the state Wetland Protection Act.
