Lakeville Board of Health Approves Septic Waiver, Loan

Board of Health · Meeting of September 2, 2026

Lakeville Board of Health approves a septic setback waiver and a $20,000 betterment loan, hears mosquito virus update. Health Agent Edward Cullen told the board an installer at 15 Beechwood Avenue hit a large boulder and placed a pump chamber 8.3 feet from the property line instead of the planned 10 feet; the board approved the change to 8 feet unanimously. Member Christopher Spratt moved approval of a separate $20,000 betterment loan for septic work at 13 Beechwood Avenue, also approved unanimously.

Cullen reported five human West Nile virus cases and 263 positive mosquito samples statewide, plus 13 positive Eastern Equine Encephalitis samples near Kingston and Middleborough, with zero human EEE cases. "The threat ends with a good first, hard frost," Cullen said, noting town properties are sprayed every two weeks through September. The board also announced a free flu clinic for October 1, with sign-up available at a September 18 health fair at the Center for Active Living.
