Lakeville Board of Health Approves 2 Marigold Lane Septic Repair With 11 Variances

LAKEVILLE — June 3, 2026 — Lakeville Board of Health clears long-delayed septic repair at 2 Marigold Lane with 11 variances and new deed protections. The board voted unanimously Wednesday to approve the repair, designed by McKinnon and Keyes Engineering, after the firm revised its plans to address a list of changes the board had requested at two prior meetings. The 11 variances cover well placement, soil absorption system setbacks, and a tank-to-pond reduction from 400 feet to 200 feet within the town's water district. The board attached a two-bedroom deed restriction and a requirement that the property connect to municipal water within two years of it being stubbed to the parcel — a condition the board said is needed to prevent compliance confusion when properties are resold. "A couple of them have happened already down there and the new buyers didn't know anything about it," one member said. The board also agreed to directly email local engineers to notify them of a recently adopted policy requiring denitrification treatment for septic systems exceeding 2,000 gallons per day, after acknowledging the requirement had not yet been communicated beyond a website fee-schedule update and a filing with the state Department of Environmental Protection.
