Lakeville's Board of Health approved septic setback variances for a home at 9 Second Avenue after weighing groundwater risk against driveway design.
Board of Health · Meeting of August 19, 2026
Lakeville's Board of Health approved septic setback variances for a home at 9 Second Avenue after weighing groundwater risk against driveway design. Engineer Jack Sturgeon of Outback Engineering sought reductions including a 2-foot separation from groundwater, but the board granted only 2.5 feet, calling it "a one and a half foot reduction, instead of a two." Members also approved crawl-space setback reductions to 5 feet and 7 feet and waived the requirement for a second test hole, conditioned on a revised plan showing the system's blower location. The board also approved its June 3 minutes and heard from Health Agent Edward Cullen that Kingston recorded the season's first two positive EEE mosquito samples, with roughly 164 positive West Nile virus samples statewide and Lakeville still rated low risk for both.
