Lakeville Zoning Board Adopts 11 School Street Decision, Prohibits Commercial Conveyor Use

LAKEVILLE — June 2, 2026 — Lakeville Zoning Board adopts final conditioned decision on 11 School Street commercial-use dispute. The three-member board voted 3-0 on June 2 to ratify a written decision prepared by Town Counsel upholding Building Commissioner Nate's earlier move to lift a cease-and-desist order at the property, while attaching conditions that prohibit the owner from using an on-site conveyor for commercial purposes. Chair John Oliveri explained that Town Counsel revised an earlier draft to encourage rather than require conveyor removal, citing the absence of an explicit bylaw provision mandating removal and warning that a harder requirement "isn't easily defendable" if appealed — which would force the town to "expend resources and costs." Members Chris Sheedy and Chris Campo joined Oliveri in the unanimous roll-call vote. The board's next substantive hearing, on a separate Simmons Hill matter, is set for June 9 at 6 p.m. at the library.
