Lakeville Special Town Meeting rejects $1.35 million school funding transfer, 154-247. The vote fell well short of the two-thirds needed to pull $1,353,384 from general stabilization to cover the disputed Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District assessment, after Town Accountant Mike Ellis warned it would leave the town "starting that far below zero going into fiscal 28." Resident Brian Inlow's four amendments seeking alternative funding sources — $275,000 in state cherry sheet aid, $150,000 from the reserve fund, $86,000 from capital stabilization — all failed by similar margins, and a fourth was withdrawn. Resident Katherine Trost told the meeting "the uncomfortable truth is that tonight does not solve any problems," while resident Lacey Marshall warned a further reserve draw could cost the town up to $1.37 million in tax impact through a bond downgrade.

A related citizen's petition covering Articles 2 through 4 was withdrawn and postponed indefinitely. Schools remain on a month-to-month budget.
