LAKEVILLE — The Lakeville Community Preservation Committee voted to advance Thompson Hill Cemetery and John Pond Park applications to step two while splitting over housing aid. Nancy LaFave argued the "capital improvements" clause of the CPA statute covers a $10,000 renovation of the volunteer-restored Cowboy Shack, despite the Community Preservation Coalition's advisor disagreeing; the item was tabled to November 19. Town staff member Andrew said John Pond Park needs $400,000 to $500,000 in construction work, with the committee seeking $200,000 in CPA funds and up to $300,000 from a state PARC grant.
A down payment assistance request for $15,000 per unit tied to a Route 18 40B development, backed by the Middleborough Housing Authority and CHAPA, was continued on a vote with one member dissenting after Chair Michele MacEachern said, "this is not the right fit for CPA funding." New member Gabriela Santana joined the board, replacing Kathleen Barrack.
