Lakeville Conservation Commission Issues Positive Wetland Determination for Unpermitted Shore Avenue Drainage

LAKEVILLE — June 9, 2026 — Lakeville Conservation Commission unanimously found unauthorized drainage work at three Shore Avenue properties subject to the state Wetlands Protection Act, ordering the property owners to appear before the board on July 14. Attorney Jim Marsh appeared on behalf of Clark Shore Association Incorporated, which owns Shore Avenue within the Clark Shores community, saying trenching and underground drainage pipe had been installed across lots 15, 16, and 17 Shore Avenue — including a crossing beneath Shore Avenue and a terminus near Long Pond — with no prior wetlands filing. Conservation Agent Mark Minton recommended, and the commission approved, a positive determination on items three and four of the standard form, finding the work altered jurisdictional resource areas and the buffer zone, each requiring a Notice of Intent. The commission voted a second time to direct Minton to send formal violation letters to the three property owners and copy Clark Shore Association, with the property owners required to appear at the July 14 meeting to discuss Notice of Intent requirements. In a separate matter, the commission approved a tree removal at 9 Hilltop Acres Drive using a crane over a pond and agreed to draft written guidelines at its next meeting governing when tree removals near water require a formal filing.
